Recording your habits is the first step to fixing them. so kudos to you, Bevie!

I use www.livestrong.com/dailyplate/ and track food, exercise, and keep a brief diary. I also have a book I handwrite all that stuff in (on the dr's orders re the bypass surgery). It's helping me get back into better habits and prep for post-surgical lifestyle changes.

Well, I'm down nearly a pound after four days. I'm not tracking my food right now. Doctor didn't tell me to track anything. If I'm lower in weight each succeeding Friday I'll be content.

What does the D.WT and T.WT Stand for?
Nevermind, I see the explanation.
Yes, very good thing you are taking steps to shed those pounds. I admire your willingness to post your weight. I must admit, I don't care to admit my weight!

I also STRONGLY advice you to right down EVERYTHING you eat, preferable BEFORE you eat it. Even little bites and sips - it is SO unnerving how quickly it adds up! I record what I eat on my iPhone.

I've nominated you for the 'I Love Your Blog' award - you can read about it and pick up the logo on my blog.

Thanks.

When I was going to the dietician every week she had me write down what I was eating - and when. Frickin' big bother. Took up my whole day as she had me eating nine times a day.

1. Breakfast
2. Early morning snack
3. Late morning snack
4. Lunch
5. Early afternoon snack
6. Late afternoon snack
7. Supper
8. Early evening snack
9. Late evening snack

Most days I wasn't able to eat nine times a day. Consistently missed one afternoon snack and the late evening snack.

If my weight doesn't shift I will go to food tracking, but if my weight is falling then I'm not going to bother.

As to publishing my weight, my self pride doesn't cover that area. I show it off every time I step out my door as it is.

Thanks for the award.

If the weight is coming off for you then that's fantastic. depending on your height and bone structure, you might well be able to handle more calories which helps.
I come from a family where calories seek us out and attach to us. (I've many over weight family members: sister, brother, cousins, aunts and most unfortunately my daughter's weight has been going up and up and up . . . )

The biggest loser DVD's are really fantastic!
I was going to blog about them today but instead I spent about 3 hours writing up my awards. And you're welcome, you and firestar deserve it.

As for snacks, well, that's part of my problem. I do love the snacks! I'm a really bad influence on my husband as I bring all sorts of junk into the house.

I'm 6'6" tall. My wedding pictures show me looking almost gaunt because I was so thin. Yet I weighed 200-pounds.

I've cut out the snacks, and when the house is free of pop we won't buy any more of that either.

I eat strawberries, apples, and grapes. We'll see how it goes. As the chart shows, I've lost nearly a pound in just four days. We'll see how things look come June and July.

Bevie, this is great. It's obvious how committed you are to getting well and it sounds like you are doing all of the right things. I think you are right--if the weight is coming off, keep it simple. When you hit a plateau, re-evaluate. But even then I think mixing it up physically is more likely to help, especially if you are already eating healthy. Alternating distance workouts with more intense intervals usually shakes things up.

But for now, it all sounds good!

My mother in law is coming and I'll have even less time for everything but I'll check in.

Thanks Jennifer.

Having you, Writtenwyrdd, Lisa, and FairyHedgeHog all commenting keeps me motivated. (It's like being on stage. I'm being watched, so I have to maintain character.)

I understand. Glad you could make it by. Hopefully, you'll be able to come back soon.

Thanks

if at 6'6 and 200 pounds you were 'gaunt' then at least you don't have nearly as many pounds to lose had you been a five foot tall woman!

Keep your eye on the prize and if you find yourself wanting to eat (or eat too much for emotional reasons) try to go for a walk or do some activity.

(kitten today is upside down)

In our wedding photo, you can see Spouse's hand on the opposite side of my waist. (Spouse is 5'4".)

We just bought about $14 in fruit. That would last four days (if only I were eating it). With Spouse eating some I think we should still get three days out of it. If Son joins in then we've got about two days.
