Games

Just returned from visiting Mother in the hospital. She is improving significantly. We stayed for an hour and she was awake the whole time. But she was tired when we left. But she no longer has the tube up her nose, and at least one from her arm is gone, too. Far different from Thursday, when she was nearly incoherent with pain medicine.

I bought a new game. ImaginIff. It's a fun game my sister had us play the day of Mother's surgery. Basically, this is how it is played.

Each player has their name written around the edge of the board. Then, if there are less than eight players, the remaining spaces are filled in with the names of people everyone playing knows. This can be friends, relatives, or famous people. As long as everyone knows everyone.

Then, after someone is chosen to go first, a die is thrown and a marker is moved clockwise, or counter-clockwise, around the circle for the appropriate number of spaces. The name the marker lands on is the ImagineIff person. A card is drawn and read: Imagine if [Bevie] were a pizza. What kind of pizza would [Bevie] be?

1. cheese
2. pepperoni
3. vegetable
4. taco
5. hawaiian
6. sausage and mushroom

Each person as a set of six cards numbered from 1 to 6. They make their choice and place the card face down on the table. When everyone has made a choice the cards are revealed. Whichever answer was chosen most is the correct answer and those who made that choice get to move their token one space forward.

It's actually quite fun.

I won on Thursday, and I won our first game today. Then Son won the rematch.

The following were questions asked about me. There were only three of us playing. (Spouse, Son, and myself.)

If Bevie were a yearbook award, which award would Bevie be?

1. Most Likely to Succeed (Son started laughing)
2. Class Clown
3. Most School Spirit
4. Most Punctual
5. Most Talented
6. Teacher's Pet

No one matched. Spouse said 5. Son said 6. I said 2.

If Bevie were a piece of baseball equipment, which item would Bevie be?

1. Glove
2. Corked Bat
3. Jack Strap (Son spit out his pop)
4. Uniform
5. Cleats
6. Sunglasses.

No one matched. Spouse said 4. Son said 6. I said 1.

If Bevie were a famous writer, which writer would Bevie be?

1. William Shakespeare
2. J.R.R.Tolkien
3. Naked Chef (Spouse laughed at this one)
4. Tony Robbins
5. Danielle Steele
6. Stephen King

Everyone matched. We chose 2.

Oh, and if you're wondering, my favorite pizza is sausage mushroom. That may not be what you think of when you associate me with pizza though.

Glad to hear that your mother is doing well.
It sounds like a fun way and a fun way to get to know someone.

The game can certainly lighten one's mood. Spouse came home crabby on Saturday. After just ten minutes of playing ImagineIff that changed to laughter.

Well worth the money spent.
